Abstract
Background: Labor is a physiological process that may be complicated by prolonged first stage of labor, characterized by slow cervical dilation and potentially increasing the risk of maternal exhaustion, infection, and fetal complications. One non-pharmacological intervention that can support labor progress is the use of a gym ball with the pelvic rocking technique, which may improve maternal comfort and facilitate fetal head descent. Objective: To provide intranatal midwifery care for Mrs. “D”, G4P3A0, at 42 weeks and 2 days of gestation with prolonged first stage of labor at Mawasangka Community Health Center using the seven-step Varney midwifery management and SOAP approach. Subject: Mrs. “D”, G4P3A0, with prolonged first stage of labor. Method: This study used a descriptive method with a case study design. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, physical examination, obstetric examination, and secondary data, then analyzed and presented using the seven-step Varney midwifery management and SOAP format. Results: Midwifery care was provided through assessment of basic data, identification of diagnosis, potential problems, required interventions, planning, implementation, and evaluation The interventions included monitoring vital signs and labor progress and applying a gym ball with the pelvic rocking technique. Following the intervention, uterine contractions became more effective, cervical dilation progressed to complete dilation, and the baby was delivered spontaneously in good condition without complications. Conclusion: Intranatal midwifery care for Mrs. “D” with prolonged first stage of labor was implemented comprehensively according to standards using the Varney and SOAP approaches. The gym ball with pelvic rocking technique may be used as a complementary method to support labor progress and improve maternal comfort.
