Abstract

Early childhood growth and development does not only occur when a child enters toddlerhood. The first thousand days of a child's life are a crucial part that influences the growth and development of early childhood until adulthood. Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a public health challenge in Indonesia. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), stunting occurs due to long-term malnutrition, repeated infections, and low access to safe and nutritious food. From a pharmaceutical perspective, food safety is closely related to the quality of food ingredients, chemical and microbiological contamination, and the use of inappropriate additives. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase public knowledge, especially mothers of toddlers, regarding stunting prevention through the application of pharmaceutical-based food safety principles. The sample activity involved 30 mothers with toddlers in the Wahdah area of Baubau City. The methods used included interactive counseling and education on reading labels. The results showed that participants only learned that stunting can be prevented from pregnancy, participants understood the importance of reading food labels and ensuring products have BPOM permits. The conclusion of this activity shows that education from a pharmaceutical perspective is effective in increasing public awareness and knowledge about food safety as an effort to prevent stunting in a sustainable manner.
