Authorsip Criteria
Jurnal Ekonomi dan Bisnis (JEKO) establishes authorship criteria to ensure that every individual listed as an author has made a substantial scholarly contribution to the published work and assumes responsibility for the integrity of the research and publication. Authorship must be determined in accordance with the principles of academic integrity, transparency, accountability, and publication ethics.
- Authorship Criteria
Every individual listed as an author of an article published in JEKO must meet the following criteria:
- Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, implementation of the research, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, or development of the scholarly content of the article in the fields of economics, business, management, finance, and entrepreneurship.
- Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
- Approve the final version of the manuscript to be submitted and published.
- Accept responsibility for the integrity of the work and cooperate in ensuring that any issues concerning the accuracy, validity, and ethical aspects of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.
2. Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editor throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes.
The corresponding author is also responsible for ensuring that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript, the order of authorship, any revisions made during the editorial process, and the final version of the article to be published.
The corresponding author must ensure that all communications with the editor and reviewers are conducted accurately, transparently, and responsibly.
- Authorship Order and Changes in Authorship
The order of authors should be determined based on mutual agreement among all authors, taking into consideration the respective contributions of each individual to the article.
Any changes to the authorship list, order of authorship, or corresponding author after manuscript submission must be supported by a clear justification and written consent from all relevant authors and must receive approval from the JEKO editor.
Authorship changes may not be made unilaterally by any individual author. The editor may request written statements or other supporting documentation confirming the agreement of all authors regarding any proposed changes.
- Unethical Authorship Practices
JEKO does not permit unethical authorship practices, including:
- Gift authorship, which refers to listing an individual as an author without an adequate scholarly contribution.
- Guest authorship, which refers to listing an individual who does not meet the authorship criteria, for example, because of their position, reputation, academic status, or honorary considerations.
- Ghost authorship, which refers to failing to acknowledge an individual who has made a substantial contribution to the writing or scholarly development of the article without a justifiable reason.
Individuals who provide only technical or administrative assistance, limited data collection support, funding, facilities, or general assistance, but who do not meet the authorship criteria, may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section according to the nature and relevance of their contribution.
- Author Contribution Statement
JEKO encourages authors to provide a transparent statement describing the contribution of each author. The contribution statement may use the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy), including roles such as:
- Conceptualization;
- Methodology;
- Investigation;
- Formal Analysis;
- Data Curation;
- Resources;
- Software;
- Writing – Original Draft;
- Writing – Review & Editing;
- Visualization;
- Supervision;
- Project Administration; and
- Funding Acquisition.
The author contribution statement must accurately reflect the contributions actually made by each individual. Providing a contribution statement does not replace the requirement for each author to meet the authorship criteria and approve the final version of the manuscript.
- Author Responsibilities and Ethical Compliance
All authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts submitted to JEKO are original scholarly works, do not contain plagiarism, do not involve fabrication or falsification of data, and have not been submitted to or published simultaneously in another journal.
All authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, sources of research funding where applicable, and comply with all relevant research ethics requirements.
Authors are also responsible for ensuring that the data, methods, analyses, findings, and interpretations presented in the article are academically accurate and accountable. If a substantial error is identified after publication, the authors are required to cooperate with the JEKO editor in making corrections, clarifications, or other appropriate editorial actions.
By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Ekonomi dan Bisnis (JEKO), the authors declare that the authorship information provided is accurate, that all authors have approved the submission, and that each individual's contribution has been truthfully disclosed in accordance with the principles of academic integrity.
JEKO reserves the right to request clarification, written statements, or supporting evidence if there are indications of violations of the authorship criteria. Any alleged violation will be handled objectively and in accordance with applicable publication ethics policies.
If an authorship or publication integrity violation is established, JEKO may take appropriate editorial action, including requesting a correction, issuing a retraction, or taking other measures consistent with the severity of the violation and applicable publication ethics standards.
