Main Article Content
Abstract
Improving the quality of human resources (HR) is a key foundation in development economic theory, where investment in human capital plays a strategic role in driving sustainable economic growth. One form of this investment is basic literacy, which serves as the initial capital in building cognitive skills and individual productivity. This community service program was implemented in Curug Agung Village, Serang Regency, Banten, to strengthen the literacy of elementary school-aged children through an interactive educational approach and parental involvement. Activity methods included read-alouds, creative writing, educational games, and workshops for parents. Evaluation results showed an increase in reading ability by 35% and writing by 28% compared to the initial condition. These findings confirm that literacy investment at the village level can generate long-term returns on investment in the form of increased productivity, reduced educational disparities, and accelerated local economic development. This activity is relevant to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4 and SDG 8) which emphasize quality education and inclusive economic growth.
