Abstract
Teachers are professionals who place high demands on their voices during the teaching and learning process. Intensive voice use, speaking in noisy environments, and improper vocal habits can increase the risk of voice disorders. Knowledge regarding voice health and vocal hygiene is essential for promoting health and preventing issues among teachers. Objective: This community service activity aimed to improve kindergarten teachers' knowledge regarding voice health during the teaching and learning process. Sample: The activity involved seven kindergarten teachers actively engaged in teaching. Methods: An educational approach was employed, featuring quantitative evaluation via pre- and post-tests. Voice health education was delivered over 30 minutes through interactive lectures, discussions, and a question-and-answer session. Knowledge was assessed using 10 questions and analyzed using a paired t-test. Results: The mean knowledge score increased from 50.00 ± 8.16 in the pre-test to 80.00 ± 5.77 in the post-test, representing a mean increase of 30.00 points (95% CI 24.66–35.34). A significant difference was observed between pre- and post-education scores, t(6) = 13.748; p < 0.001. Conclusion: The voice health education session resulted in improved teacher knowledge regarding voice health during the teaching and learning process.
